Investigation of some variables on affecting police officers marital adjustment

The major purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between marital adjustment and some demographic variables age, gender , education level, status of having a child, , marriage duration ,profession of the wife, seizure status, daily working hours, daily sleep duration, working unit, work location smoking status and alcohol use.For this purpose, study, married police officers were selected by random sampling method.This study was carried out in 2011. The sample of the research consists of 142 volunteer married police officers of which were 31 female and 111 were male, selected by means of proportional sampling and random sampling methods from the police officers different services of Ankara General Directorate of Security.?Dyadic Adjustment Scale?? and ?Demographic Information Form? were used for collecting data. ?Demographic Information Form? is used to determine demographic and personal characteristics ,prepared by the researcher have been applied to the volunter police officers. This form, consists of questions concerning with age, sex, education level, status of having a child, , marriage duration ,profession of the wife, seizure status, daily working hours, daily sleep duration, working unit, work location smoking status and alcohol use . Data were analyzed using a statistical program SPSS.The results of the study indicated that:The Police Officers? Marital Adjustment was found below under the mean .It was also seen that men?s level is higher than the women?s level. The results showed significant relations between marital adjustment,and age, gender , education level, status of having a child, , marriage duration ,profession of the wife, seizure status, daily working hours, daily sleep duration, working unit, work location smoking status and alcohol use.It wasn?t looked the relation between the working position and marital adjustment because there is no normal distribution of variables.The finding were discussed in the contex of literatüre and suggestions were made for future research.From this perspective , the findings of the study are very important the suggestions could be carried out.Keywords:Police Officers ,Marriage,Marital Adjustment .Security Organization
