Abstract (EN)
For the reconstruction of the highway that was destroyed or severely damaged after the earthquake, bitumen or cement-bound road coatings are currently used traditionally. Road coatings made with both binders are opened to traffic between 3-24 hours. In this thesis study, a new road coating was constructed using polyurethane resin binder and aggregate. Another importance of the study is that water is not used in the mixture for coating production in the construction of the road coating. The main substance in bitumen-bound road coating is bitumen. Water is used in the mixture in cement-bound concrete roads. It is known that drought problems have emerged due to climatic changes today and water resources are rapidly depleting. Significant amounts of water are used in concrete production and this situation causes water resources to decrease even more. In the polyurethane resin-bound road coating created in this study, a new coating type that does not contain cement or bitumen as binders and does not contain water in its mixture was revealed. Road pavements are divided into two as asphalt and concrete pavement. In the thesis study, a new road pavement with polyurethane resin binder was created. Polyurethane resin binder road pavement is a new type of pavement that does not contain cement or bitumen as binders and does not contain water in its mixture. The binder material used in the mixture is two-component polyurethane resin. In the production of polyurethane resin binder road pavement, the mixture is formed from two materials: polyurethane resin and aggregate. After determining the aggregate and binder mixture ratios, four different curing were applied to the samples. After the curing, the samples were subjected to compression test, bending test, Bohme abrasion test, freeze-thaw test, fire test, adhesion strength test, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) test, SEM-EDX analysis, XRD analysis, FT-IR analysis. In addition, a cost comparison was made between the new coating type created in the thesis study and asphalt and concrete pavements. The new type of pavement created within the scope of the thesis study was obtained as compression strength 41.22 MPa, bending strength 25.32 MPa, Bohme abrasion value 0.99 cm3/50 cm2, freeze-thaw test mass loss per unit area 0.77 kg/m2. It was seen that these values meet the specification limits.
