Investigation of the effect of coenzyme Q10 use on infertility patients with polycystic ovary syndrome on the outcome of IVF treatment

This study was planned retrospectively and it was conducted to investigate the effect of Coenzyme Q10 use on in vitro fertilization results in 154 infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome, aged 27.3±3.9 years, in a private women's and maternity hospital in Kayseri. The data of this study were obtained from the files of patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) who received In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment in a private Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital in Kayseri between 2019 and 2021. The patients were examined in two groups, those who used 100 mg CoQ10 for one month before IVF treatment (n= 75) and those who did not (n=79). Reproductive findings of the patients such as oocyte quality, pregnancy formation and live birth were recorded and HbA1c levels, and, the obtained data were analyzed with Mann Whitney U, Chi-square and Fisher Exact tests. M2 oocytes count (p<0.001) and fertilization (2 PN) rates (p<0.05), pregnancy occurrence (p=0.001), clinical pregnancy (p=0.001) and live birth (p=0.001) in coenzyme Q 10 users realization rates were higher than those who did not use it. The clinical pregnancy (p=0.015) and live birth (p=0.046) rates of infertile fat patients with PCOS using CoQ10 were found to be statistically higher than the patients who did not use CoQ10. As a result of the study, it was determined that CoQ10 supplementation had a positive effect on IVF results since that IVF was applied to both groups, pregnancy formation and live birth rates were higher in those who used CoQ10 than in those who did not have been considered.
