Abstract (EN)
Popular culture begins by migration to cities. Products of popular culture which are handled cheaply are accessible easily and produced and consumed very much. It is occured due to mass medium to gain wide currency. On the score of, it is broken into pieces by mass culture. Because of this relationship, popular culture and mass culture usually change places. They can be used mostly for one another. Popular culture represents its qualities on television in a best way. It's produced again dominant values by idiocratical types of expression. It produces these messages and use series with idiocratical type of expression. In Turkey, tv chanels step into broadcaat life so tv series' options and contents change. It is reflected mostly culturel items in daily life and items which content society. In short, cultural items that came out by television are related to culture and society. It shows us seasaw in daily life. Series popularise products and set the agenda which give hopes. While Series are creating messages by using real life they constitute new idiocratic world. Television series aim at reaching large mass by puting the fake stories into real stories which happen in real life. Because of the verbal and visual aspects of the television, it is important to examine the elements of popular culture in two different dimensions. Due to the nature of series, the image details are given in a general framework so the images must be strongly supported in the verbal expression. My case will be examined in the light of this situation. Media which is an instrument of popular culture has now influenced many behaviours such as social and cultural behaviors of masses. It can direct people's behaviour and thoughts. It also plays major role in shaping the interaction and communication forms of the masses. Television is the most effective tool as the method of socialization. The series carry differences according to their types, sometimes cases somtimes within the occupations; their subjects are mafia, murder, family and hospital. With the virtual reality produced by media, the masses are confronted with new popular cultural functions. In addition to the fact that today's series are mainly focused on fighting, war, mafia and intrique, the series of Ege'nin hamsisi is a project that reflects the cultural differences of our society. On the axis of popular culture and media, the series of Ege'nin hamsisi will be discussed. In this study, culture, the concept of popular culture and the functions of media will be investigated. It will be focused on the orientation and influence power of the series and an evaluation will be made on the scale of the Turkish series. On the axis of popular culture elements will be examined about which sizes of their spread. The series will be analyzed by discussing the concepts and interactions of media culture.
