Abstract (EN)

Porcelain tableware; it is a part of the ceramic industry with its hard non-porous and semi-transparent structure. In the porcelain sector, increasing the variety of quality products and lowering the costs are of economic importance and priority. There are different kinds of deformations depending on multiple reasons at every stage of the production of porcelain tableware. Knowing the reasons for these deformations, planning the production process or performing the remediation works is one of the factors that increase the product quality and production capacity, thus reducing the costs. Excessive deformation products affect quality negatively. For this reason, the deformations encountered in the production of porcelain tableware and the suggestions for removal are the subject of this research. Within the scope of the research, the literature review was performed and the factory that designs and produced porcelain tableware was interviewed and interviews were conducted with experts in the field. Also, porcelain products were applied and deformations were determined in the same factory. And remediation works were carried out. In the first part of the thesis, the definition, history and tableware production methods of porcelain are mentioned. In the second part, the causes and factors of deformations are explained by the product types. In the third part, deformations in the products in question were determined, these deformations were corrected and finally product applications in accordance with ISO 9001 standards were made. It is foreseen that this thesis will contribute to academic literature and industrial ceramics education as there is not enough written resources in product development and deformation prevention in porcelain tableware sector. On the other hand, it contributed to the strengthening of the ties between the university and the industry with the thesis study.
