Abstract (EN)

Key words: Basalt, Porcelain, Sintering, Electroporcelain The aim of this study is to investigate the usage of basalt in the production of traditional porcelain which consists of kaolinitic clay, quartz and feldispar. Quartz is progressively replaced by 5, 10, 15 and 20 wt. % and sintered between 1100- 1300ºC. Basalt is chosen because of the silica content it has which is as high as quartz. The effect of this substitution on mechanical and microstructural properties is studied. Avaibility of the usage of basalt at the traditional porcelain production experimented and it has seen that 10 and 20 % basalt added bodies which were sintered at 1150 °C, are suitable for electro porcelain production.
