Abstract (EN)
Aim: In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of targeted heat treatment on red cell volume distribution width (RDW), neutrophil / lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and mean platelet volume (MPV). Method: This study was carried out retrospectively in the Anesthesiology and Reanimation Intensive Care Unit of Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital between May 1, 2016 and August 1, 2019. The cases were divided into two groups as TTM applied (Group H) and not applied (Group K). The group H was formed from 38 patients. The group K was formed from 41 patients. RDW, NLR, MPV, WBC and blood culture results were obtained from the patient files within the first five days as of demographic data and hospitalization. RDW, NLR, MPV, WBC and infection values were compared. The data were analyzed statistically using IBM SPSS Statistics 22 program. Results: The average age of patients for Group H was 52.0 ± 16.6 years and 10 (26.3%) of the patients were male and 28 (73.7%) were female. For Group K, the average age of 14 patients was 64.8 ± 10.8 years and 34 (82.9%) were male and 7 (17.1%) were female. When RDW, MPV and lymphocyte values of groups were compared on 1. 2. 3. and 5th days, there was no statistically significant difference (p> 0.05). When the N / L, WBC and neutrophil values of the groups were compared on 1. 2. 3. and 5th days, only the first day was found to be significantly higher in the hypothermia group compared to the control group. There was no significant difference between groups in terms of blood culture positivity in intensive care follow-ups. When the groups were examined among themselves, the MPV values on the 5th day in the control group were statistically significantly higher than the other days (p = 0.016). N / L values on the 2nd day in the control group were statistically significantly higher than the other days (p = 0.016). There was no difference in RDW values. In the hypothermia group, no difference was detected between NLR, MPV and RDW values within days. Conclusion: In our study, we did not find any difference in RDW, NLR, MPV, WBC and infection values between TTM applied (Group H) and not applied (Group K) groups. We believe that TTM application, which has been proved to have a positive neurological effect, should be applied in patients followed up in the intensive care unit after CPR. This result should be supported by studies that include prospective and homogeneous patients.
