Özet (EN)
Tracy Chevalier's Falling Angles and John Fowles' The Collector stand out as postmodern works, with their multiple narrations and ambiguous endings. It is also critical that the two novels reveal the challenges that their protagonists face in their personal lives and present the shifting nature of truth from person to person. In this context, this thesis focuses on the identity quests of the female characters in the novels and examines how social gender roles affect their search. In addition, it compares the struggles of the characters by drawing attention to the similarities and differences in their social conditions. Moreover, as the settings of the two novels are chronological continuations of each other, the reflection of Kitty's fight for women's rights at the beginning of the 1900s on Miranda's identity quest in the 1960s is analysed.
