Abstract (EN)
Title: The effect of Watson model-based psychoeducational intervention in the prevention of postpartum depression Aim: This study was planned to evaluate the effect of a Watson model-based psychoeducational intervention applied to pregnant women in the prevention of PPD. In addition, this study will also evaluate the effect of the psychoeducational intervention related to PPD on women's perceptions of social support. Method: The study is a randomized pretest-posttest control group intervention study. It was carried out in Eskişehir Province Vadişehir Family Health Center (FHC) between October 2022 and June 2023. The sample consisted of 91 women (intervention: 45, control: 46) who were pregnant at 20-32 weeks. While routine care was applied to all women in FHCs, psychoeducation intervention based on Watson's Human Care Model (WIBM) was applied in addition to the intervention group. Data; It was collected using the 'Personal Information Form, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and Watson Recovery Processes Patient Satisfaction Evaluation Form'. Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square, t and Levene tests in dependent and independent groups, correlation and multidimensional regression analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: The total EPDS score of the post-psychoeducational intervention group was significantly lower than the control group, while the MSPSS total score and the friend sub-dimension score were higher (p<0.05). According to the results of the regression analysis, although the support of friends and family, which is one of the sub-dimensions of MSPSS, decreased significantly in both groups, it was determined that the PPD level decreased more in the intervention group than in the control group (ß=-0.612, ß=-0.315). It was found that a specific human support decreased the PPD level in the intervention group, but did not make a significant difference in the control group (ß=-0.344, ß=-0.235). Conclusion: WIBM-based psychoeducational intervention decreased women's risk of PPD while increasing their level of social support. It is recommended to use approaches that include psychoeducational intervention in postpartum midwifery care. Keywords: Postpartum depression, Watson model, psychoeducation, support
