Özet (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between postpartum breastfeeding self-efficacy and physiological jaundice in newborn. For this purpose, it was carried out as a case-control study with a total of 236 mothers who gave birth in Hacettepe Hospital in Ankara city center, 118 of them were diagnosed as hyperbiluribinemia and 118 of them were infants with no diagnosis of hyperbiluribinemia. Data were collected with data collection form and Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Scale. In data analysis; number, percentage, mean, chi square, independent t test, ANOVA, pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analysis techniques were used. There was not determined statistically significant difference between the mothers' age , education, number of children, working status, desire of pregnancy, breastfeeding education, variable of the person providing the breastfeeding training, breastfeeding experience, breastfeeding experience, availability of breastfeeding support, birth type of newborn, gender, birth weight of newborn and jaundice. (p> 0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between the weight of the newborn on the day of jaundice and the presence of jaundice (p <0.05). The mean score of Mothers' Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale was 54.39. Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Scale score was found to be significantly correlated with the age of the mothers and the weight of newborns on the day of jaundice. There was significant difference between breastfeeding Self-efficacy scale score and the realization of pregnancy, breastfeeding education (p<0.05). Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Scale score is 0.193 times higher in the mothers who received breastfeeding trainings from nurses and were 0.608 times higher in the mothers of non-jaundice neonates. It can be suggested that breastfeeding training for mothers should be given by specialist nurses starting from the prenatal period and postpartum controls of newborns should be performed at regular intervals.
