Effect of Yoga on Breastfeeding Qualification and Maternal Attachment in Postpartum Primiparous Mothers

Aim: This research; The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of yoga practice on postpartum breastfeeding qualificationand maternal attachment. Material and Method: The research was done quasi experimental with pre test-post test control group. The population of the study was composed of mother between 20-40 days of age who were registered to Adiyaman Public Health Directorate and were registered to 1 Nol and 14 Nol Family Health Center. The sample is; A total of 124 women were formed with 62 experiments and 62 control groups. The data were collected between 15 September 2017 and 15 September 2018. Individual Presentation Form, The Breastfeeding Efficacy Scale and Maternal Attachment Scale were applied to the experimental and control groups. Two weeks of the week for 4 weeks 60 minutes ın the postpartum period, yoga practice was applied with the researcher; ın the next 4 weeks, mothers were taken. The experimental and control groups were administered the intermediate test 4 weeks after the pre-test and 4 weeks after the intermediate test, the last test for testing the back The Breastfeeding Qualification Scale and Maternal Attachment Scale. For the analysis of data; mean, standard deviation, chi-square, analysis of variance in repeated measurements, Bonferroni test and t-test in independent groups were used. Results: In terms of breastfeeding qualification and maternal attechment; there was no statistically significant difference between the pre-test mean scores of the experimental and control groups; however, there were statistically significant differences between the groups in intermediate and post-test mean scores after yoga intervention (p<0.05). Conclusion: In postpartum period, yoga practice increased breastfeeding qualification and maternal attachment in women. Key words: Breastfeeding, Yoga, Qualification, Maternal Attachment
