Abstract (EN)
In this study, It is aimed to investigate the effects of slag belonging to ten different steel grades produced in Kardemiş A.Ş. ladle furnaces on MgO-C refractory bricks used in the steel ladle slag region. In this direction, a cross-section was formed from refractory bricks and slag samples were filled in and the "Slag - Refractory Penetration Test" was applied. The penetration test results were examined by macro, scanning electron microscopy and image processing methods. The slag was filled into the refractory crucibles prepared within the scope of the study and charged into the oven. The crucibles reached a temperature of 1600 °C in 3 hours and the interaction was achieved by holding them for 2 hours at 1600 °C, which is the approximate process temperature in ladle furnaces. After the completion of the slag – Refractory corrosion test, it is aimed to calculate the corrosion area in the interaction area. In this direction, analyzes were carried out with the help of the "ImageJ" program using the SEM image taken from the areas where penetration was observed in the slag-refractory interaction zones. In order to Decipher the interaction between MgO-C refractory crozes and slag samples, point, spatial and linear microchemical analyses were performed in the slag–refractory interaction areas using scanning electron microscopy after melting. From the EDS point analysis, it was determined that the refractory is based on MgO and C, and the slags used to contain the elements Mg, Si, Al, and Ca. It has been observed that slag cannot penetrate the refractory material, except for samples 6,7 and 8, where slag penetration occurs effectively. In the regions where corrosion occurs, Ca diffusion from the slag to the refractory, and Mg and C diffusion from the refractory to the slag have been found. Accordingly, it was concluded that the interaction occurred even in samples where no effective corrosion was observed in SEM images
