Novel 1,4-anthraquinones and 1,4-naphthoquinones as potential fingerprint reagents

Abstract (EN)
Lawson 4 is a 2-substituted-1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives. In a study carried out in 2008, the availability of the lawson 4, a natural dye, as a latent fingerprint reagents were investigated and lawson 4 has been reported to be an alternative to the fingerprint reagents based on the reaction with amino acids, primarily ninhydrin 3. Later studies on this subject were limited with a few naphthoquinone derivatives and with a few article. Anthraquinones are one of the most important members of the quinone family and they are highly effective dyes. However, these compounds have not been significant studied so far in the literature for the availability of fingerprint reagent. In this study, novel substituted anthraquninone and naphthoquinone derivatives have been synthesized by nuclephilic substitution reactions of 2,9,10-tribromo-1,4-anthraquinone (15) and 2,5,8-tribromo-1,4-naphthaquinone (16) with sulfur nuclephiles. Then, latent fingerprints on paper substrates (white copy paper and thermal invoice paper) was treated with solutions of novel anthraquinones and naphthoquinones. The anthraquinone and naphthaquinone derivatives obtained by this study react with amino acids and produce luminescence products. The obtained results were compared with the results obtained in the fingerprints treatment with lawson 4 and ninhydrin 3. Much better results were obtained from the results obtained with lawson 4. In this study, very important results were obtained on the availability of and substituted-1,4-anthraquinones and substituted-1,4-naphthoquiones as potantial fingerprint reagents of detecting latent fingerprints. Many new compounds (52, 53, 54, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62 and 63) have been proposed as fingerprint reagent.
