Examining the relationship between selected biomechanical skills and parameters in the health-related physical fitness report of preadolescent children

Abstract (EN)

Aim: This research investigated the relationship between health-related physical fitness (HRPF) parameters such as muscle strength, flexibility, body composition, and biomotor skill levels of preadolescent children. Methods: In this research was participated that a total of 105 volunteer students, 47 males and 58 females, aged 11-13 years (12.17±.671), body weight 23.20-78.60 kg (46.88±11.92), height 1.29-1.72 cm (53±.077) and Body Mass Index (BMI) 13.93-32.72 (46.88±11.92) kg/m2 participated in this research. The research was conducted in 4 sessions, two days a week for two weeks. Data collection tools included the "Personal Information Form," "505 Agility Test," "20 Meter Sprint Test" "10 Meter Acceleration Test," and "Flamingo Balance Test." Pearson Correlation Test and Independent Sample T Test were used to obtain the research data from descriptive statistics in the SPSS package program. In all analyses, p<.05 was accepted as the significance level. Results: The research determined a positive and significant relationship between height, weight, and body mass index. In addition, a positive and moderately significant relationship was found between the number of sit-ups and the number of push-ups. Flexibility level may vary depending on gender, but gender was not a determining factor in terms of BMI; significant differences were observed between physical performance measures such as sit-ups and push-ups and gender. Among the biomotor skills, a significant relationship was found between balance and weight and BMI, agility and weight, BMI, number of sit-ups and push-ups, speed and weight, BMI, number of sit-ups and push-ups, acceleration and weight, and number of push-ups. Conclusion: In the research, while there was a significant difference in favor of men in the sit-up and push-up tests for muscular strength and endurance among SIFUK parameters, it was found that women had higher averages in the flexibility test. At the same time, significant relationships were found between biomotor skills and muscular strength and endurance in SIFUK parameters. As a result, gender differences are an essential variable and should be considered when designing programs to improve children's physical fitness. The study's results may improve children's health and physical fitness levels and raise a healthier generation. Keywords: Balance, Flexibility, Strength, SIFUK, Speed
