Abstract (EN)

Plasma glucose values are higher than normal; the disease that is the precursor of DM that does not meet the DM diagnostic criteria is called prediabetes. HbA1c value with high risk of DM, BGT and BAG, previously called as Borderline Diabetes or Latent Diabetes, is considered prediabetes. Prediabetic patients carry an advanced risk of DM and microvascular and macrovascular complications of DM. BAG; fasting blood sugar is between 100 - 125 mg / dl and plasma sugar is lower than 140 mg / dl in the second hour of the 75 gram oral glucose tolerance test. BGT; fasting blood sugar is below 100 mg / dl and plasma sugar is between 140 - 200 mg / dl in the second hour of the 75 gram oral glucose tolerance test. HbA1c value with high risk of DM is between % 5.7 and % 6.4. Diabetic nephropathy, one of the chronic complications of DM, is one of the most common causes of end stage renal failure. Nephropathy in patients with DM is evaluated by the microalbumin value measured in the urine. Microalbuminuria; it reflects increased renal endothelial permeability, endothelial dysfunction, vascular disease burden, and low-grade inflammatory status. The risk of microalbuminuria is related to plasma glucose and duration of hyperglycemia. Microalbuminuria is a risk factor for microvascular and macrovascular complications of Type 2 DM and is an early marker of target organ damage. It is an indicator of progression to nephropathy in patients with DM. DM complications begin in the prediabetic period. Early diagnosis and treatment of patients during this period reduces the progression of the disease to DM and DM-related complications. In this study, we aimed to investigate the prevalence of microalbuminuria in prediabetic patients. In our study, the mean HbA1c levels were found to be statistically significantly higher in the group with microalbuminuria than the group without microalbuminuria(p <0.001). A significant relationship was found between microalbuminuria with increasing age and uric acid value in the prediabetic patient. As a result, nephropathy, one of the most important complications of DM, starts in the prediabetic period. Therefore, early identification of prediabetic patients; It should be ensured that early and appropriate treatments are carried out effectively.
