Investigation of sexual quality of life and related factors in women with preinvasive cervical cancer

This study was conducted to investigate the sexual life quality of women with preinvasive cervical cancer and related factors. The research is of a prospective descriptive type and its universe was composed of women who were diagnosed with preinvasive cancer in the gynecological cervical oncology outpatient clinic of maternity hospital located in Ankara, completed the surgical treatment process and came for post-treatment control. The sample of the study consisted of 150 women with preinvasive cervical cancer. The research was carried out on the date February December 2022. In the acquisition of data, in the reasearch, the data collection form and the sexual life quality Scale-Female (SQoL-F) form was used. Frequency analysis (number, percentage, average), t-test, ANOVA, Mann Whitney-U, Kruskall Wallis H analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient were used in the analysis of the data collected within the scope of the research. In the research, the forms and scales used in the study were applied by the researcher to sexually active women who came to the gynecological-oncology outpatient clinic during daytime working hours for a follow-up examination 3-6 months after the treatment, by face-to-face interview method. The average score of women with preinvasive cervical cancer on SQoL-F is 49.21 = 13.80. In the study, it was determined that there was a statistically significant relationship between the quality of sexual life of women according to the variables of family type and the state of thinking about how their sexual lives and bodies would be affected before and after the operation (p<0,05). As a result of the research, it was determined that women's sexual life quality was low. It is recommended to disseminate education / counseling services aimed at improving the quality of sexual health and sexual life for women who have been diagnosed with preinvasive cervical cancer and have completed the surgical treatment process, to make it sustainable and to take the necessary measures.
