Abstract (EN)
PT is the name of isolated breast development without secondary sexual characteristics. It peaks in the first 2 years of life but it may occur in any period of life. Today, it is suggested that improved socio-economic and nutritional conditions in parallel with the normal age of puberty onset shifted earlier. There are too many factors in aetiology of PT. The reason of PT remains unclear. Aetiologically, mechanisms such as exogenous estrogen sources, elevated estrogen sensitivity of breast tissue, early menarche age of mother, temporary stimulation of hypotalamus-pituitary gland axis suggested. We know that kisspeptin has a direct effect on hypothalamus in normal puberty. The purpose of this study is, if there is a role of kisspeptin in premature telarche. The children between the ages of 2-8 were enrolled in our study. Cases were composed as premature telarche (n=20) and control groups. Basal hormone levels (LH, FSH, SHBG, E2 and prolactin) were recorded in both patient and control groups. Plasma LH, FSH, SHBG E2 and prolactin levels were measured by ?immunochemiluminescent microparticle assay? (ICMA) technique. Kisspeptin levels were measured with ELISA method which the blood samples were taken while hungry. In our cases plasma kisspeptin levels were markedly increased when compare with control group in premature telarche (respectively 2.96±1.21 ng/ml 1.19±0.41ng/ml p=0.000). Patients with basal LH levels under 0,3 mIU/ml (ICMA), LH peak levels under 5mIU/ml in LHRH test, bone age/ chronological age rates under 1 and who don?t have rapidly length prolongation evaluated as premature telarche. In our study, high levels of kisspeptin was found in patients compared with control group suggest that PT might occur as a result of temporary activation of HPG axis. Keywords: Premature telarche, Kisspeptin
