Abstract (EN)
The aim of the present study is to determine the effect of mindfulness program on transition to motherhood process in pregnant women with Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes. The research is an intervention-control study. The sample of the study was included the pregnant women who applied to Antalya Education and Research Hospital antenatal clinic for Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes. The study was carried out on 60 pregnant women including 30 experimental, 30 control groups by using the pretest-posttest model between December 2012-June 2014. The effect of Mindfulness Based Transition to Motherhood Program that based on Meleis's Transition Theory was evaluated on experimental group, routine clinical care was given to control group. Within the Mindfulness Based Transition to Motherhood Program, education about preterm premature rupture of membranes, breastfeeding and baby care were given, the motherhood role rehearsal was done with a baby model, listining to slience, body scan meditation and lying meditation were enforced, the pregnant women were encouraged to listen to MP3 player which contained the mindfulness practices and relaxation music. Data of research were collected through "acceptance of pregnancy", "identification of the motherhood role", "readiness to motherhood role", and "relationship with the husband" subscales of Prenatal Self Evaluation Scale, Maternal Attachment Scale and Postpartum Self Evaluation Scale and women's labour weeks were saved from patient's hospital records. As a result, acceptance of pregnancy, identification of the motherhood role, readiness to motherhood role, relationship with the husband level was increased at the experimental group who were given a nursing care based on mindfulness practices. There was a statistically significance in acceptance of pregnancy and readiness to motherhood role subscales. The maternal attachment level of mothers who were in postpartum first month was higher than control group and there was no a statistically significance between control and experimental group in postpartum fourth month. At the end of the study the awareness about motherhood and the mastery of the motherhood role in the first month after birth was increased, but there was no a statistically difference between control and experimental groups in postpartum fourth month. While birth week of the applied experimental group who were given mindfulness-based nursing interventions was 36.6 ± 0.6, in the control group it was identified as 36.2 ± 0.7. The pregnancy was continued for 4 days in the intervention group than the control group, but there is not statistically significant difference between them.
