Abstract (EN)
Trainings given to prenatal women will help them relax both physically and spiritually and to end the birth process in a healthy way. When we look at the literature on the vaginal examination experience of primiparous mothers for childbirth given to primiparous pregnant women, it was found that there are studies abroad, but there are very few studies on this subject in our country. This research was carried out to reveal the relationship between gynecological examination training given to primiparous pregnant women and fear of childbirth. The data of the quasi-experimental type (pre-test-post-test group) study were collected from primiparous pregnant women aged 18-35 and in the last trimester (28.-40.weeks) who applied to the obstetrics clinic of a private hospital in Gaziantep between March 2022 and December 2022. Our study was carried out with 60 primiparous pregnants, 30 of whom were in the experimental and control groups. The data of the research; It was collected with "Personal Information Form" and "Wijma Birth Expectation/Experience Scale (W-DEQ) version A". Before the training, "Personal Information Form" and W-DEQ were applied to both groups. The primiparous pregnant women in the experimental group were given gynecological examination training and the pregnant women in the control group were not intervened. W-DEQ was applied to the experimental and control groups again in the postpartum period. In the analysis of the data, mean (Mean) and standard deviation (SD) for continuous variables and data for categorical variables were made using number (n) and percentage (%). In parametric tests, independent samples t-test was used for the comparison of the mean scores between the groups for paired groups, and dependent samples t-test was used for the comparison of the mean score within the group. When the fear of gynecological examination during pregnancy is examined; for the control group, it was found that the post-test W-DEQ average score of primiparous pregnant women who had no fear of gynecological examination during pregnancy and was partially increased compared to the pre-test, whereas there was a decrease in the post-test W-DEQ average score of the primiparous pregnant women who had a fear of gynecological examination during pregnancy (p<0.05). It was determined that the primiparous pregnant women in the experimental group, who stated that the fear of gynecological examination affects the mode of delivery, decreased with the education they received (p<0.05). It is recommended that health professionals should inform pregnant women about gynecological examination and that studies on this subject should be increased.
