The effects of proactive approach on occupational accidents

Abstract (EN)

The economic and social effects of occupational accidents in the world are gradually growing. This situation increases the importance of work and measures to be taken in the field of occupational health and safety. In our country, the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, which was adopted in 2012, was put into effect in order to prevent occupational accidents by improving the health and safety conditions existing in the working enviroment. This study aims to determine whether the mentioned law has a positive effect on occupational accidents. In this respect, between the years of 2007-2018 years of change in the overall appearence of accidents and related deaths in Turkey it was investigated by examining work-related accidents. By using the data obtained, comparison criteria such as accident frequency rate, frequency rate and accident severity rate were calculated. The findings revealed as a result of the calculations Show that Proactive approach, which entered the working life with the Occupational Health and Safety Law enacted in 2012, has a limited effect on occupational accidents.
