Abstract (EN)

In the research, it is evaluated whether Group- Family Education Programme for Reducing Behaviour Problems has made fathers gain necessary concepts and operation processes for reducing behaviour problems or not in terms of social validity.?AB Pattern? among single-subject experimental designs is used in the research. Research subjects have been chosen from among fathers of mentally handicapped children who are students at Adnan Ağır Special Education School. The research has been started with seven fathers of the children who have behaviour problems; however, three of the fathers have left the programme because of the special reasons related to their jobs, and it has been continued with four of them. In the research, to be able to accumulate the data, record form for target behaviour, criterion referenced test related to the concepts, criterion referenced test related to the operations and social validity form have been used.During the experimental study, it has been defined the starting levels of the four fathers at the processes of concepts and operations intended to gain in the research with three different sessions before practising the developed family education programme. After the starting levels of the fathers have been defined, four sessions of family education programme have been implemented to the group. In the research, the data of the research has been displayed graphically and the graphs have been interpreted qualitatively. At the end of the research findings are as follows:-After applying Group - Family Education Programme for Reducing Behaviour Problems to the fathers included in the research, they have reached all of the sub-goals of the concepts such as award, ignorance, incompatible behaviour and rewarding appropriate behaviour (differential reinforcement of incompatible behaviour). Thus, it is understood that Group - Family Education Programme for Reducing Behaviour Problems is effective to the acquisition of concepts.-After applying Group - Family Education Programme for Reducing Behaviour Problems to the fathers included in the research, they have reached all of the sub-goals of the operation processes such as using award, ignorance and rewarding appropriate behaviour (differential reinforcement of incompatible behaviour). Thus, it is understood that Group - Family Education Programme for Reducing Behaviour Problems is effective to the acquisition of operation processes.-When Group - Family Education Programme for Reducing Behaviour Problems is evaluated in terms of social validity to intervention, it has been determined that this program has very highs rates of intervention reliability and social validity.Key Words: Parents education, Problem behaviour
