Abstract (EN)

With the development of modern society, the use of activated carbon in rapidly growing production is increased, especially in the second half of the 20th century. This surge is attributed to environmental regulations, clean gas applications, air quality control, water pollution, and energy storage. The widespread use of activated carbon in various fields has underscored the necessity for practical and innovative alternative heating methods in its large-scale production. In this study, activated carbon was produced from various biomass wastes using the flash heating method to determine the optimum temperature. The resulting products were characterized and the effects of the flash heating method on the properties of activated carbon were examined. By determining the optimum temperature, selected activated carbons were used as adsorbents for CO2 and benzene adsorption. When the results were evaluated, activated carbons with a high surface area and microporosity were obtained in a shorter time and at a lower cost using the flash heating method. Based on the data obtained from CO2 and benzene adsorption, it was concluded that it is suitable for use in various applications as an effective adsorbent.
