Prof. Dr. Ahmet Önkal's life, works and Islamic historiography

Ahmet Önkal is one of the few names that come to mind in our country in the field of Islamic History with his personality, life and works. In this study, in which we have dealt with Ahmet Önkal and carried out meticulously, we have examined Önkal's life, works and Islamic historiography with devotion. The aim of this study is to reveal what kind of an Islamic historian Önkal was by examining what kind of life he lived, the works he did in his life and what methods he used in these studies. For this, we first identified all the works written and contributed by Ahmet Önkal and all the data related to Ahmet Önkal. Then, by making use of all the data we obtained, we prepared our study based on Prof. Dr. Ahmet Önkal, who has an important place among the Islamic Historians of the Republican Period in Turkey. With this study we have prepared, we aim to make an important contribution to the field of Islamic History. Having dedicated nearly four decades to his academic career, Önkal has produced numerous books, articles, and encyclopedia entries, and has played a significant role in the academic formation of many scholars in the field. In his studies, Önkal frequently employed classical Islamic historiographical sources, while also making use of contemporary scholarly research. Through his academic contributions, he has established a distinguished position in the field of Islamic history.
