Abstract (EN)

Effective communication plays a critical role in enhancing performance, strengthening motivation and ensuring team cohesion in sports. Anger and aggression in sports can negatively affect performance and disrupt team harmony. Controlling these emotions is important for maintaining healthy sports environments within the framework of fair-play. In this study, it was aimed to determine the communication skills, aggression and anger levels of professional volleyball players, to reveal the relationship between them and to examine them in terms of different variables "gender, age, league level played, years of active sports (volleyball), educational status, marital status and the region of the position played". Relational screening method was used in the study. In the study, "Personal Information Form (PIF)", "Effective Communication Skills Scale (EIBS)" and "Aggression and Anger Scale in Sports (ASAS)" were applied as data collection tools. SPSS 25 package program was used for data analysis. Frequency and percentage were used for the findings related to the demographic characteristics of the athletes; analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA, t test) was used for the comparison of mean scores in unrelated measurements, Tukey test was used to determine significant differences, and Pearson's product correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between sub-dimensions. "Convenience Sampling Method" was used as the sampling method of the study. The research group determined by this method consisted of 174 (43.5%) female and 226 (56.5%) male volleyball players playing in Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) leagues. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of effective communication skills of volleyball athletes were above the average, while the scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of aggression and anger level in sports were below the average. "Pearson Correlation" test showed that the relationship between EIBS and SSAS was low, significant and negative [r=-,240 p=0,00]. The results of the research are expected to quantitatively reveal the relationship between the effective communication skills of the athletes competing in TVF leagues and the levels of aggression and anger in sports according to various variables and to give ideas to coaches.
