Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of the research is to determine the effect of programming teaching performed with flipped classroom applications on the academic achievement of 6th grade students. The flipped classroom model is a teaching approach in which the necessary work done at home is replaced with the subject expression and the students have the opportunity to work as a team. Although the people who manage the process in the implementation of flipped classroom model have followed a variety of paths, the content of the course will be prepared in the form of video and the students will watch the videos during the extracurricular time period and the teacher will organize the complementary developer activities for the subjects that were watched in the course. The working group consisted of 29 students studying in the 6th grade of two secondary schools in Dogansehir district of Malatya province. In this research, a quasi-experimental research design with pre-test and post-test control group is used. The course is continued with face to face teaching environment with the control group students. The quantitative data of the research are collected by using IT course achievement test. The relevant test is applied as a pre-test before the application and as a post-test to the experimental and control groups. The quantitative data obtained from the research are analyzed using Mann Whitney U test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test. As a result of the analysis of the data collected at the end of the research, a significant difference is found between the post-test scores of the experimental group in which the flipped classroom applications are performed and the post-test scores of the control group in which traditional teaching is performed. This difference is found to be in favor of the experimental group. It is concluded that the flipped classroom model increased academic achievement in programming teaching. Key Words: Academic Achievement, Programming Instruction, Flipped Classroom Model, Flipped Classroom Model in Programming Instruction.
