Abstract (EN)
Aim : In this study, we investigated the compatibility between Gleason scores of fine needle prostate specimens and radical prostatectomy of the patients who underwent radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer diagnosed by fine needle prostate biopsy in our clinic. Material and Methods : Between November 2011 and December 2014, 117 consecutive patients who underwent radical prostatectomy for organ confined prostate cancer were included in this study. The patients' informations have been investigated retrospectively. Results : Mean age of the patients was 61,8 ± 6,7 (43-76) and mean patient body mass index (BMI) was 26,7 ± 3,24 (19,3 – 35,3). Mean PSA of the patients was 10.6 ± 9,9 (1,4 – 80) ng/ml. In 74 (%63,2) of the patients Gleason score of transrectal needle prostate biopsy and radical prostatectomy were compatible, in 35 (%29,9) of them were incompatible and 8 (%6,8) of them's Gleason score were the same but rankings was different. If we accept 8 patients who had Gleason score were the same but rankings were different were incompatible, 43 (%36,7) of all patients would be incompatible. A patient's radical prostatectomy pathology PIN arrived, Gleason score of %5,9 (7 patient) of them decreased one degree, Gleason score of % 22,2 (26 patient) of them increased one degree, Gleason score of %1,7 (2 patient) of them increased three degree. Conclusion : These findings supports the possibility of determining low Gleason score by a fine needle biopsy is higher as the researchers found. Keywords: Gleason score, prostate fine needle biopsy, prostate cancer, PSA, radical prostatectomy
