Abstract (EN)
Dental practices are considered high-risk areas for infection due to direct contact with the oral cavity, as well as exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Cross-infection can lead to serious consequences for both patients and healthcare personnel. This study aims to assess dental technicians' and dentists' knowledge of cross-infection risks in prosthetic treatments and promote positive changes in infection control attitudes and behaviours by providing an informative brochure at the end of the survey. The study included 160 dentists and 80 dental technicians. Based on a literature review, a questionnaire consisting of 33 items was developed for dentists and another for dental technicians, and voluntary participation was obtained. Data were analysed using SPSS 25.0 software. Descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test were used for statistical analysis. The study's findings revealed that 75% of dentists and 50% of dental technicians had received the hepatitis B vaccine. Additionally, 69.4% of dentists and 25% of dental technicians reported having sustained injuries from contaminated sharp instruments. Personal protective equipment was used by 64.4% of dentists during tooth preparation and by 33.8% of dental technicians during prosthetic material handling. Furthermore, significant differences were observed in participants' responses relating to age, professional experience and gender.
