Özet (EN)

PURPOSE: To evaluate factors associated with progression of pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PXG).MATERIALS AND METHODS: The records of 72 patients who were treated for PXG between 1998 and 2011 were evaluated retrospectively. Age, visual acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP), visual field index (%), mean deviation (dB), pattern standard deviation (dB), visual field index progression rate (%/year), type of medication, history of surgery were evaluated.RESULTS: Ninety one eyes of seventy two patients with PXG were included in this study. The mean age of the patients was 74,37 ± 7,49 years, the mean follow-up was 5,65 ± 3,25 years. 47 men (%65,27), 25 women (%34,73) were included. The mean IOPs were 22,30 ± 6,32 mmHg and 15,59 ± 2,66 mmHg at the first visit and while on medication, respectively. The mean VFI progression rate was -0,65 (-11,9-[23,2]) %/year. VF1 %94,00 (43-100), VF2 %88,00 (1-100) and MD1 ?4,18 (-20,13-16,82), MD2 -6,76 (-30,20-0,92) and PSD1 3,69 (1,23-14,69), PSD2 5,41± 3,27 (1,19-13,11) were found at first and latest visit, respectively.CONCLUSION: In patients with PXG older than seventy years of age, glaucoma progression was found to be faster. When IOP was reduced 30%, glaucoma progression was decreased but continued.KEYWORDS: pseudoexfoliative glaucoma, visual field progression, glaucomaCommunication Address: Adnan Menderes University Medical School, Department of Ophthalmology, AYDIN
