Works of Ziya Paşa with psychoanalytic reading

This study is about Ziya Paşa who is considered as one of pinoers of Tanzimat Period together with Şinasi and Namık Kemal. Ziya Paşa who lived between1829 and 1880, was a famous poet, translator, literary historian, journalist and bureaucrat. This famous name left great influence in modern Turkish history pointed an important milestone as a prominent figure of ?individualism? poet. In this study aimed to explain his artistic character, all copyright works as poetry and prose studies of Ziya Paşa were examined. The main theories and methods applied for this purpose were developed within the framework of psychoanalytic literary theory developed by Sigmund Freud. In this study involved examinations of psychoanalytic schools developed after Freud, the psychology and bibliography of Ziya Paşa have been given meaning over his works. Therefore, the first section of the study that includes four sections, Ziya Paşa?s psycho-biographical development was addressed and his pscyhological development was viewed with chronological and systematical examination over his works. The second section includes defense mechanisms in order to examine Ziya Paşa?s egoistic balance. In the third section, it is aimed to explain subconscious of Ziya Paşa, a famous satirical poet, over his works and to introduce how he used literary genres and techniques such as humor, satire and irony. The last section is on the examination of two major archetype of Ziya Paşa within framework of archetype theory developed by Carl Gustav Jung who is prominat with his analitic psychology works within school of psychoanalizm.
