Abstract (EN)
The research was conducted to compare the likelihood of psychological resilience and suicide of patients with psychiatric disorders and healthy individuals and to determine the relationship between these variables. The study was carried out with a total of 280 people consisting of 139 psychiatric patients and 141 healthy individuals. "Personal Information Form", "Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA)" and "Suicide Probability Scale (SPS)" were used as data acquisition tools in the study. The data were evaluated by using mean, One Way Anova, Kruskal Wallis, independent sanples t-test and pearson correlation analysis via IBM SPSS 22 software. In this study it was determined that suicide probability was higher in psychiatric patients; psychological resilience was higher positively in healthy individuals than psychiatric patients. A negative and statistically significant relationship was determined between hopelessness, hostility and thoughts of suicide which are the sub-scales of SPS and structural style, future perception, family harmony, self-perception, social suffıciency and social resources which are the sub-scales of RSA (p<0.05). A positive and statistically significant relationship was determined between negative self-evaluation which is a sub-scale of SPS and structural style, future perception, family harmony, self-perception, social sufficiency and social resources which are sub-scales of RSA (p<0.05). Our study put forth that the risk of suicide is greater in patients with lower psychological resilience levels.
