Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to investigate the role of creativity in predicting counseling self efficacy (helping skill self-efficacy, session management self-efficacy, counseling challenges self-efficacy) levels of counselor trainees. The sample of the study was consisted of 4th graders who were enrolled Guidance and Counseling Undergraduate programs in universities located in Aegean Region during 2018-2019 academic year. The data were collected using Counseling Activity Self-Efficacy Scale (CASES), Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (Figural Form-A) from 293 volunteer counselor trainees. Results of study indicated that; creativity did not predict counselor trainees' helping skill self-efficacy scores. Both, resistance to premature closure and elaboration were significant predictors of counselor trainees' session management self-efficacy scores. Elaboration of creativity has a negative effect on the session management self-efficacy scores, but resistance to premature closure has a positive effect. Fluency, originality, abstractness of titles, checklists of creative strengths did not predict counselor trainees' session management self-efficacy scores. Resistance to premature closure predict significantly counselor trainees' counseling challenges self-efficacy, on the other hand fluency, originality, elaboration, abstractness of titles and checklists of creative strengths did not predict to counselor trainees' counseling challenges self-efficacy scores. As resistance to premature closure increases, counselor trainees' counseling challenges self-efficacy increases too.
