The mediating role of self-compassion in the effect of psychological capital on burnout

The main purpose of this study is to determine whether the self-compassion levels have an indirect effect (intermediary role) in the effect of the psychological capital levels of the personnel working in the public hospital on their burnout. In line with the related purpose, the population of the research consisted of 4446 public hospital personnel working in Tokat province and its districts. Within the scope of the research, the questionnaire form prepared electronically (via surveey.com) was sent to the universe, and 208 participants responded. Data on two participants who were missing and did not meet the analysis assumptions were not included in the analysis. As a result, mediation analysis was conducted to test the model created within the scope of the purpose of the study with the data obtained from 206 participants. This analysis was made over the Process Macro application added to the SPSS program. Analysis results showed that psychological capital and self-compassion had a negative effect on burnout. In addition, a positive effect of psychological capital on self-compassion has been determined. The original result of the study is that self-compassion has a high indirect effect on the effect of psychological capital on burnout. Results of the study were discussed in the light of the literature, and recommendations were suggested for future researches and practitioners.
