Abstract (EN)

Objectives: We aimed to compare the serum hs-CRP, 25 (OH) vit D, TNF-α, total TGF-β1 levels with PEX syndrome, PEX syndrome with glaucoma and normal ophthalmic examination individuals. Material and Methods: Ninety patient were selected in Atatürk University Medicine School ophthalmology department between October 2016 – March 2017. In ophthalmic examination patient were divided into PEX syndrome (Group 1), PEX syndrome with glaucoma (Group 2) and had normal ophthalmic examination. Every group has 30 patients and taken these patients venous blood samples. Serum hs-CRP, 25 (OH) vit D, TNF-α, total TGF-β1 levels were measured. Conclusıon: Mean age in control group was 65,80±7,66 and patient groups were 68,33±7,88. Mean age was not statically significant. In patient group 47 were men (%78,3), 13 were women (%21,5), in control group 13 were men (%43,3) and 17 (%56,7) women respectively. Hs-CRP, TNF-α, total TGF-β1 levels were high being statically significant according to control group (p=0,001). 25 (OH) vit D level was low which is statically significant according to group 1 (p=0,001). In group 2 serum 25 (OH) vit D level according to control group was found low which was statically significant. (p=0,008) Results: Increasing level of the hs-CRP, 25 (OH) vit D, TNF-α, total TGF-β1 in PEX disease shows that it is an systemic condition. Deficiency of 25 (OH) vit D is a risk factor for PEX disease and vitamin D supplementation for this patients may be slowing up progressing of the glaucoma.
