Abstract (EN)
Selection of appropriate raw materials is important in obtaining the desired product in textile. Fiber blends are commonly used where 100% natural or 100% artificial fibers do not fully meet the requirements of the product. In this study, it is aimed primarily to spin staple Sustans® fibers based on PTT together with cotton in the rotor spinning system. In this way, it is aimed to transfer the positive properties of Sustans® fibers such as good elasticity and dimensional stability, low static electricity, softness to the staple yarn structure with a high efficient spinning technique. In this context, 6 different rotor-spun yarns with Ne 8.25 were produced by using Sustans®/Cotton blends in 5 different ratios and 100% Cotton blend, and then quality properties of these yarns were tested. Then, 6 different denim fabrics were produced using these yarns as weft and quality properties of the fabrics were tested. As a result; Sustans®/Cotton blends were successfully spun in open-end rotor system. As a result of statistical analysis applied to all the data; compared to 100% cotton yarn, the elongation at break, unevenness, yarn imperfections and hairiness of Sustans® containing yarns improved, while the strength values were slightly reduced. Compared to 100% cotton fabric, denim fabrics containing Sustans® were able to achieve higher dimensional stability and elongation at break, on the other hand, a little bit improvement in elasticity and permanent elongation was obtained. According to all the obtained yarn and fabric findings, the optimum blending ratio in rotor spinning was evaluated as 50/50% Sustans®/Cotton.
