Evaluation of the postoperative pain status of dentalswith indicated root canal treatment with differentdiagnosis with pulpal and periapical pathology

In our study, we aimed to evaluate postoperative pain conditions by applying the same treatment protocols to teeth with different indications for root canal treatment. Our study consisted of 5 groups: Chronic Apical Periodontitis, Necrotic teeth, Acute Apical Periodontitis, Retreatment, and Irreversible Pulpitis. In our study, 125 patients were included, with 25 patients (n = 25) in each group. After the rubber dam isolation, an endodontic access cavity was opened to the teeth. Root canals were prepared apical r50 using reciproc files and 2.5% NaOCl as an irrigation solution. Ca(OH)2 was then root canals dressing as a medicament. Patients were given a numerical pain assessment form (VAS) and were asked to evaluate the pain on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th days. After 1 week, Ca(OH)2 was removed from the root canal and root canal fillings and permanent restorations were completed. Analysis of variance was performed in repeated measurements using the SPSS 26.0 package program. One-way ANOVA test was used in the evaluations within the group. Chi-square test was used for qualitative variables. It was reported that the AAP group had significantly higher pain scores than the other groups at all times. A significant difference was observed in all groups at all times ( p<0.001). In our study, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of age, gender and jaws (p> 0.05) As a result of the treatment protocols applied within the limitations of our study, it was observed that the preoperative pain scores in all groups significantly decreased at the end of the postoperative 7th day.
