Abstract (EN)
Between January 2010 and December 2015, 23170 patients referred to department of Neurosurgery of Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical School, with neck or back pain. Among these, 59 patients that diagnosed with spondylodiscitis were evaluated retrospectively. Patients were divided into four groups as brucellosis, tuberculosis, spontaneous pyojenik and postoperative pyojenic spondylodiscitis. Groups, were compared with each other in regarding with age, gender, arrival complaints, duration of complaints, pre-and post operative general and neurological findings, routine blood parameters, serological tests and radiological investigations and the causative microorganisms as well as the settlement and the region of infection. Various surgical procedures that preferred according to the region of lesion, deformity an instability was also compared. As a consequence, our result sugested that early diagnosis and treatment has affected the outcome of spondylodiscitis, thus we should examine patients that had even vague spinal symptoms, with a high suspicion in terms of spondylodiscitis.
