Abstract (EN)

The primary aim of this study is to theoretically compare the performance of refrigerants with high global warming potential and new generation refrigerants in a rooftop air conditioner, and to change the perspectives of manufacturers and suppliers by providing detailed information about R-454 B gas usage conditions. Comparison of HFC-410A and R-454B in terms of energy and exergy efficiency will be presented with a theoretical analysis. In the near future (2025-2027), its use will be limited according to the EU 517/2014 regulation, and it is planned to encourage the use of alternative refrigerants by increasing their prices under current market conditions. Similar studies have been carried out in the past years on the new generation gases R1234ze-(chiller) and R1234yf (automobile), which have started to replace R-22 and R-134 gases today. When deciding on the use of new generation refrigerants, manufacturers take into account not only environmental conditions but also performance studies conducted in the literature.
