Abstract (EN)

Many studies have been carried out to model under-gate flows in open channel flows. Reducing gate dimensions and costs is the field of research for hydraulic engineers. Sluice and radial gates are widely used as the control structure at the spillways, bottom outlet and water intake structures of the dams and in open channels. The gates are operated under free surface and submerged flow conditions depending on the downstream water levels. In this thesis, the effect of the sills on the discharge coefficient of radial gates in the case of free flow condition were investigated. Sills of different geometry and different heights were tested for different flow rates. In this context, a total of 666 experimental studies were carried out for 9 different flow values in the 38.5 cm width open channel. According to the results, the effect of different sill heights and different sill geometries on the flow coefficient is discussed. The effects of the sills as variable geometric parameters on length, height and slope of discharge coefficient were investigated.
