Examination of Rasim Özdenören's novels and stories in terms of values education

One of the most important elements that maintain the continuity of social structures is values. When viewed from this aspect, it is significant to include values in the education programs of many countries. In recent years, the importance of values education has increased with the Ministry of National Education's emphasis on values in curriculum. Literary works have become an important element in values education. The aim of this study is to determine how often values are discussed in Rasim Özdenören's novels and stories and in what ways values are handled. In this study, basic qualitative research, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. Rasim Özdenören's stories called Hastalar ve Işıklar, Çözülme, Çok Sesli Bir Ölüm, Çarpılmışlar, Uyumsuzlar, Denize Açılan Kapı, Kuyu, Ansızın Yola Çıkmak, İmkânsız Öyküler, Hışırtı, Toz, İlk Öyküler and Kör Pencereler and novel called Gül Yetiştiren Adam was considered in the study. As a result of the study, 13 values were identified in the works examined. These values are: humility, generosity, diligence, friendship, honesty, compassion, hospitality, kindness, patience, respect, love, responsibility, helpfulness. In Rasim Özdenören's works arewhich examined, the most seen value was love (33) and the least seen value was humility (1). It can be seen that Rasim Özdenören's novels and stories are rich in terms of values. Özdenören's works can be used in the context of values education.
