Abstract (EN)
Boron is an essential and important element for human health. It is known that boron has positive effects on bone development, wound healing, neurological and metabolic systems. In recent years, it has been understood that various boron compounds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. In our study, the efficacy of the topical and systemic boron element, which we applied at different concentrations on photoaging, created with ultraviolet B in rats, was evaluated biochemically, clinically, molecularly and histologically. In our study, 49 Wistar albino rats, totally 8 weeks old, were randomly divided into 7 groups. Our working groups are determined as follows. Group 1: Control, Group 2: Shaved control, Group 3: UVB, Group 4: UVB + 2% dermobor cream twice a day, Group 5: UVB + 5% dermobor cream twice a day, Group 6: UVB + 2 mg elemental boron oral gavage once a day, Group 7: UVB + 4 mg elemental boron oral gavage once a day. At the end of our ten-week study, the level of inflammatory markers, wrinkle formation, epidermal thickness, dermal inflammatory cell count, epidermal microfold count, and elastase enzyme level were statistically significant in both groups (4th and 5th group) applied only to UVB in both groups. It was found to be lower (p <0,05). As a result, when we analyzed the macroscopic and microscopic findings of our study, it was found that the topical application of the boron element was effective on rats with photoaging. It can be thought that boron element may be effective in photoaging due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects. Key Words: Boron, photoaging, UVB
