Abstract (EN)
Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic agent widely used in the treatment of malignant tumors. In the treatment stage, many organs or systems have adverse effects incluiding mortality. One of these is peripheral neuropathy. Naringin is a vegetable flavonid in citrus fruits. Naringin has antimutagenic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, cholesterol-lowering, free radical scavenging properties and antioxidant effects. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of naringin, which has plant antioxidant properties, to prevent or reduce the side effects of cisplatin. The study included 48 female Sprague Dawley rats weighing 180-220 g at 48 weeks of age. Subjects were divided into 4 groups. Only physiological saline was given to the control group by gastric gavage (GG). Cisplatin group was exposed to 10mg / kg cisplatin by IP. Cisplatin + Naringin group; Cisplatin dissolved in SF is administered in a dose of 10 mg/kg for 5 days and 50 mg/kg Naringin dissolved in SF was applied by gavage for 15 days. Naringin group; 50 mg/kg Naringin was administered by GG for 15 days. Cisplatin + Naringin group, Cisplatin result of brain and peripheral nerve histopathology showed positive results. Histopathological findings were consistent with biochemical parameters. As a result of these findings, it was concluded that Naringin may be a supportive agent in reducing the side effects of Cisplatin against Neurotoxicity in Rats Keywords: Cisplatin, naringin, neurotoxication, histopathology, rat,
