Comparison of bevacizumab, renibizumab and aflibercept in experimental corneal neovascularization in rats

Abstract (EN)

This study was aimed to compare the efficacy of bevacizumab , ranibizumab and afliberceptin in rats with corneal neovascularization compared with the control group Materials and Methods: In our study, 24 male Wistar-Albino species and 250-300 gr male rats were used. The 24 rats in the study were divided into 4 groups as 6 rats in each group. Each group was followed under the same conditions with the same amount of food, under the same ambient temperature and light. The rats in each group were numbered 1 to 6 and ear numbered. Corneal neovascularization was expected to develop by creating corneal burns in the corneal center in each group. Bovacizumab, ranibizumab and aflibercept were applied to the spontaneously formed groups in the rats and the corneas were taken at 21 days after being checked at regular intervals. Results: Averaege of VEGF%, Tunnel dye ( count/1hpf), after injektıon KNV/all area, and after ınjektıon count of maın vessels were found significiantly high three groups compared to the control group but between the three groups weren't find significiant differences. Count of eosinophil;control and ranibizumab group were found significiantly high compared bevacizumab and aflibercept group. Conclusion: In our study, we found that anti-VEGF molecules, which are not yet licensed, here effective in the treatment of corneal neovascularization, which we have seen frequently. We believe that these results will be an alternative method for the treatment of such patients in the future with the development of new appr oaches in larger groups
