Abstract (EN)
53 ABSTRACT In this study, the effects of selenium and vitamin E on the phagocytic activities of alveolar and peritoneal macrophages in vivo were investigated. For this aim, 40 male wistar albino rats whose body weights are between 140-160 gr were used. These rats were formed as control (n=20) and experiment groups (n=40). Experiment groups divided in to two groups. To the first group dl-alfa- tocopheryl acetat was enjected intraperitoneally 10 mg/day and to the second group sodium selenit was enjected intraperitoneally 10 mg/day for 5 weeks. At the end of the enjections the phagocytic activities of both alveolar and peritonal macrophages in two groups were determined. The phagocytic activities of alveolar and peritoneal macrophages increased considerably in experiment groups compare to control group (p< 0.001). Significant differences were not found between phagocytic activies of both alveolar and peritoneal macrophages. According to the findings of this study, enjected intraperitoneally selenium and vitamin E have a positive effect on the phagocytic activity of alveolar and peritoneal macrophages.
