Does sildenafil have an influence on anti mullerian hormone levels in rat ovarian torsion model?

Abstract (EN)

Adnexal torsion occurs when the ovarian pedicle twist on itself. It is the fifth most common condition of the gynecologic emergencies. Clinical features of adnexal torsion are acute abdominal pain, palpable adnexial mass, nausea, vomiting, moderate leukocytosis and fever. Ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cyst rupture, pelvic infection, acute appendicitis, nephrolithiasis, degeneration of myomas should be remembered in differential diagnosis. For diagnosis, anamnesis, medical examination, laboratory tests and imaging are essential. Torsion is usually caused by adnexal masses. Detorsion by laparoscopy is the gold standart in the treatmentof ovarian torsion. However there is a concern that ischemia reperfusion damage the ovarian reserve and ovaries will not be protected from ischemia-reperfusion injury fully.Taking these to account antioxidants has been tried in torsion model in addition to surgical therapy. In this study, the effects of sildenafil, which is antioxidan agent, on ovarian reserve were investigated in torsion detorsioned rats' model. Ovarian reserve is evaluated by anti mullerian hormone which is one of the best indicators. The anti mullerian hormone levels of sildenafil treatment group was not statistically significantly different (p>0.05). This situation can be explained with recovery of the ovarian tissue after detorsion or preservation of ovarian reserve despite the decreased blood supply.
