Özet (EN)
The CP, which is widely used in much neoplastic and non-neoplastic pathology, also has a broad list of adverse effects. The most obvious side effect of CP is HS and sometimes CP applications may be fatal. The use of Mesna may prevent HS, but it is insufficient for some other unwanted conditions. In this experimental study, the effect of glycyrrhizin against CP-related side effects was examined as a stand-alone alternative or as a supportive with Mesna. In the study, 49 male Sprague Dawley rats were used. The experiment was designed to have 7 animals in each group. The animals in the Control group were given only physiological saline by GG and the animals in the CP group were given CP at 150 mg/kg by IP route. CP+Mesna group received 150 mg/kg CP by IP route and also three dose of Mesna. First Mesna application was made 20 minutes before CP and last two doses were applicate in 4 and 8 hours after CP application. The rats in the CP+GLY100 and CP+GLY200 group received three doses of glycyrrhizin 20 minute before and 4 and 8 hours after 150 mg/kg CP application at 100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg dose, respectively. The previous protocol was applied to the last two experimental groups and only the first glycyrrhizin application was replaced with Mesna. In the study, it was recorded that bladder macroscopy and histopathology were better preserved in glycyrrhizin applicate groups compared to CP group. However, it was observed that this protection was slightly weaker than the Mesna and GLY+Mesna combinations. From this point of view, it was observed that glycyrrhizin could be preventive in CP-related HS, but it could also support to Mesna combinations.
