Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF PYRROLIDINE DITHIOCARBAMATE IN EXPERIMENTAL TESTIS ISCHEMIA REPERFUSION INJURY In our study, we aimed to investigate Pyrrolidine Dithiocarbamate (PDTC) molecul's (an antioxidant and inhibitor of NF-kβ) protective effects of ischemia-reperfusion injury. Male 21 Wistar-Albino rats were divided into three groups each has seven rats; sham group (group 1), I/R group (group 2) and I/R + PDTC group (group 3). All left testicles excluding the sham operation groups were subjected to 720 degrees of spermatic cord torsion for 4 hours. 15 minutes prior to detorsion 100\mg\kg of PDTC was administered intraperitonealy to group 3. At the end of 1 hours detorsion period, left orchiectomies were performed, and 5-mL intracardiac blood samples were taken in all groups. Blood superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured, and histopathologic examinations were performed. Group 2 had decreased blood SOD activities, elevated MDA levels and decreased hispathologic Johnson tubuler biopsy scores indicating I/R injury. (p<0,05) Group 3 had similar results of these parameters with sham group (p>0,5). Histopathological evaluation showed that PDTC reduced testicular cell damage. The results of this study indicate that PDTC is a beneficial agent in protecting testicular I/R injury in rats. Keywords: Pyrrolidine Dithiocarbamate, NF-kB, ischemia-reperfusion injury, testicular torsion.
