Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the improval effects of the Reactive Terpolymers (Elvaloy Ret) on the performance of bitumen and hot mix asphalt (HMA) as additives were studied. With this aim, the modified binders were obtained by adding Elvaloy Ret at the rates of 0.5%, 0.75% and 1.0% into the asphalt binder with the class of penetration B 100/150 chosen for the studies. The pure and modified binders' physical and rheological features were analyzed with the experiments of penetration, softening point, dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), bending beam rheometer (BBR) and rotational viscosimeter (RV), and their performance levels were given. Then the samples of the modified mixture were prepared using the Marshall design method with the pure and Elvaloy Ret modified binders after taking a chosen design aggregate gradation. The effects of Elvaloy Ret on the performance of the hot mix asphalt were dealt with the experiments of Marshall stability and flow, indirect tensile strength (ITS) and moisture sensitivity, indirect tensile stiffness module (ITSM), indirect tensile fatigue and dynamic creep. As a result of these experimental studies, it was seen that the high and low temperature performance levels, more solid consistence and low sensitivity to temperature were a matter of subject when modified binders by adding Elvaloy Ret, and the stability, sensitivity to moisture damage, stiffness, resistance to permanent deformation and fatigue resistance of the mixtures prepared with these binders increased.
