Job satisfaction of guide academics and their motivation behind the move from guidance to academic life

The main objectives of the thesis are to determine the reasons for the guidance academics to switch from guidance to academia, and to measure the job satisfaction and satisfaction of the professions. The study is designed quantitatively. Out of 52 academicians who constitute the universe of the study, 36 academics were reached on a voluntary basis. Questionnaire technique was used in the study. The questionnaire applied consists of 3 parts. In the first part, the statements aiming to reach the detailed demographic data of the participants, in the second part, two different job satisfaction scales aimed at measuring job satisfaction, and in the third part, two different job satisfaction scales aimed at measuring job satisfaction. The research was carried out only with participants who turned to an academic career in the field of tourism from professional tourist guidance. SPSS 21.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data and 95% confidence level. Due to the low number of samples, non-parametric Mann Whitney U and Spearman correlation test techniques were used in the analysis. The relationship between the reasons for switching from guidance to academia and categorical variables was examined with Chi-square test. As a result of the research, it was determined that the guidance academics' desire to be a scientist, the desire to teach young people and their personal rights, the desire to teach young people, among them, was the desire to teach young people. It was learned that job satisfaction and satisfaction levels were medium in the guidance profession and high in academia. It was determined that the variable that affects job satisfaction the most is the expressions that affect internal satisfaction, and the job satisfaction 2. However, there was a strong positive relationship between overall satisfaction and job satisfaction.
