Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY Masters Tbesis ENERGY RECOVERY BY MEANS OF ROTARY TYPE REGENERATIVE HEAT EXCHANGERS Yasin VAROL Fırat University Institute ef Science and Technology. Mechanical Education Department 1991, Page: 106 In this study, the amount of energy recovery by using rotary regenerators in air-conditioning plants was investigated. Differential equations valid for an observer rotating with regenerator matrix were obtained. These equations were derived neglecting the axial heat conduction in the regenerator matrix. In order to solve these equations, a computer program was developed based on the finite difference method. From the calculation results, performance curves for a rotary regenerator were plotted.VI Effects of parameters such as heat capacity ratio of fluids C*, matrix heat capacity rate Cr*, number of modified transfer units N^ and dimensionless heat conductance of fluids (hA)* on regenerator performance were examined. For a model air-conditioning plant, the amount of energy savings resulting from the use of a rotary regenerator was calculated. Key words: Rotary regenerators, termal storage type heat exchanger, energy recovery.
