Research in physical changes of people who participate fitness-aerobics recreation activities

Abstract (EN)

Recreation is the activies of people that they do according to their wishes in their free times apart from the activies that they do necessarily like their daily works, eating and drinking. Sporting recreation is the activities that people do for health, happiness, hobby and similar factors in their free times by joining sporting exercise and game activities.People are quickly advancing through a inactive life by developements in informatics and using internet. So, they will be able to be unhappy and have health problems. It is obvious that sporting recreation activities offer longer and more qualified life for that people.This research is for emphasizing beneficial aspects, if exists, and importance of sporting recreation by examining physical changes of middle-aged sedentary people who prefer aerobic exercises which is a part of fitness activities.100 people who are 42 middle-aged sedentary women (40,64 ± 5,33) and 58 middle-aged sedentary men (48,32 ± 4,65) and also are members of Akatlar Club Sporium sport center which is in Istanbul, has been participated to this research.An 1 hour and 15 minutes fitness program which mostly includes aerobic sections was performed during 3 days in 12 weeks to this group. Test subjects was splitted two parts as women and men. It was looked and compared by Paired Sample t-test, if the statistical meaningfulness of the datas that was taken from the first and last tests of the groups are in 0.05 degree.In this research, for examining the changes in physical changes of people who do sporting recreation, their body weight changes, body mass indexes, sum of the fat content in the body as percentage, basal metabolism rate, daily energy necessity resistance of muscle and age of body measurement was measured by Body Pass GAIA 359 Plus measurement machine and MK-220 model metal meter in 0.01 cm precision. Max VO2 values was measured by imlementing Cooper test.As a result of the research, decreasing in body weight changes, body mass indexes, sum of the fat content in the body as percentage, basal metabolism rate, daily energy necessity resistance of muscle and age of body measurement and increasing in max VO2 parameter of middle-aged sedentary women group was observed as statisticaly meaningful (p < 0,05). Decreasing in body weight changes, body mass indexes, sum of the fat content in the body as percentage, and age of body measurement and increasing in max VO2 parameter of middle-aged sedentary men group was observed as statisticaly meaningful (p < 0,05). But it was observed that there are no statisticaly meaningful changes in resistance of muscle, basal metabolism rate and daily energy necessity of men group(p>0,05).SPSS 16.0 (Statistical Package For The Social Sciences) was used for statistical solutions.Keywords: Recreation, Sedentary, Fitness, Aerobic, Exercise
